Looking at the Citadel from below, we wonder how anyone ever attacked it - even to the Plains of Abraham (a farmer) which are behind the first picture.
The Question of the Day: How did the British Ships of Wolfe get past the Citadel on the river without anyone sounding the alarm?
aha!
ReplyDeleteThey waited for a cloud covered night and went gently up past the city by water, then let themselves float down to the only place where they could actually get up onto the plains. Today this place is known as Guilmore Hill and is so abrupt it is closed to cars in winter time.
Hope this helps answer your question.
From one of the the lovely french canadians in the picture :o))
